Open-Source Electrocoagulation Water Filtration System
Project Name : Open-Source Electrocoagulation Water Filtration System Submitted By : Joshua Giardino
This is part of an open-source water filtration system that can recycle water.
Electrocoagulation is used to remove pesticides, heavy metals, viruses, & bacteria from water making it safe to drink. This system is portable and capable of treating enough water to meet the emergency needs of up to 5 people. It is ultra-low power, running on only 5 volts. It can probably be run easily on solar, wind, batteries, or even crank power.
It uses low cost, readily available materials like aluminum & iron wire to flocculate contaminants into particles large enough to filter out using simple cloth filtration methods. Best of all, it’s open source.
